‘Jules Rimet still gleaming, 30 years of hurt, never stopped me dreaming.’ – It’s very had not to get swept up in the feel-good Euphoria of the national football team and the momentum that Gareth Southgate, Harry Kane and co are instilling across the country – even for a seasoned rugby player/supporter such as myself.
So, while it does indeed seem football is coming home the question is, are you?
How many people are going ‘home’ to somewhere they own?
A recent article in the Independent – highlighted that there are 17 million renters in the UK and more than two-thirds now have no plans to purchase a property in their lifetime. But statistics show that renting for an entire lifetime will cost your £1 million more than purchasing your home (about one of the England players monthly wages then!).
But there are lots of new incentives coming to market to help those first-time buyers so perhaps now is as good a time as any to take football to your new home!
We’ve recently seen the introduction of Family Link and 100% mortgages to help those First Time Buyers get their foot on the ladder and we’ve recently seen the first maturity dates of those that were the first uptakes on the Help-to-Buy Equity Loan scheme.
The new Family Link mortgages allow Mum and or Dad to help get their son/daughter on the housing ladder by offering a charge registered against their property (subject to a minimum equity requirement in their property) which gifts the funds from this charge directly to son/daughter and allows them to raise their own mortgage whilst slowly paying off this charge also.
There are many variations on this also and plenty of lenders heading back into the 95% Loan to value lending meaning many people don’t need as big a deposit as they think.
It’s a very confusing and misleading market out there today and using a broker (to many) can seem like an unnecessary expense but the expertise and knowledge we possess in finding you the right mortgage to meet your requirements and needs and to ensure you have the security and happiness you need in your home is worth that cost – much like England with Gareth Southgate bringing on Eric Dyer to seal the win against Columbia – his expertise and knowledge of personnel and when to introduce them has got us to the last 16 in a major tournament for the first time since 2006.
In news closer to home – we’ve had a new starter in the office this week – Stephanie who comes on board to help with mortgages and administration side of the business. So, a warm welcome to her.
Let’s hope football continues its long journey back from Russia this weekend with a resounding win over Sweden to send us into World Cup Semi Finals and this glorious weather continues. In the immortal words of Baddiel and Skinner ‘thirty years of hurt, never stopped me dreaming’ well maybe after this weekend we can continue to dream – of Football Coming Home (to stay) and maybe even buying our own home – who knows!?!
